D&L Industries Eyes Export Growth Despite Global Trade Tensions

D&L Industries Inc., a Philippine-based producer of oleochemicals and food ingredients, remains optimistic about its export performance despite growing uncertainties in global trade. The company is confident its strong product portfolio and long-term strategy will help sustain profitability, even amid challenges like new US tariffs and potential countermeasures from major economies.

In a statement following its Annual Shareholders Meeting, D&L emphasized its resilience-focused approach: “While near-term business sentiment is clouded by global uncertainties, we remain committed to long-term growth. Our core products support essential industries, ensuring we stay relevant and continue expanding in a shifting global market.”

CEO Alvin Lao added that the company expects continued profit growth, supported by robust cash flow. He highlighted the ramp-up of production at D&L’s Batangas facility, which is aimed at bolstering export capabilities. “We’re actively reaching out to international markets by visiting clients abroad and participating in global trade shows. These efforts are helping us tap into new customer bases,” Lao said.

The company recently announced a P1.52 billion cash dividend for its shareholders, slightly up from last year’s P1.49 billion. It also reported a 10% year-on-year increase in net income for Q1 2025, reaching P681 million.

Despite global economic shifts, Lao believes the Philippines could fare better than others due to its import-heavy trade structure. He also pointed out that lower reciprocal tariffs proposed for the Philippines, compared to its regional peers, may give the country a competitive edge.
