DOE Gives 20-Year PSAs to 19 Renewable Energy Firms

Under the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP), the Department of Energy (DOE) has granted 19 renewable energy development firms 20-year power supply agreements (PSAs) that promise to deliver 2,000 megawatts under the program. 

 

The bidding process was held last June 17, 2022, and awards consisted of 30MW wind capacity and 1,350MW. The majority capacity of 1,380MW was given to Solar Philippines and representative Leandro Leviste. 

 

Department of Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said “the winning bidders were ranked based on their offers from the lowest to highest bid price and stacked corresponding to the respective RE technology per grid,”

 

11 companies were awarded PSAs for the Luzon grid. Two developers for hydro, four for wind farms, and five for solar energy. 

 

The hydropower supply contracts are namely 20MW for Sablan 1 hydroelectric power venture of Hedcor Inc. of the Aboitiz group and 60MW for Kapangan hydroelectric power project of Cordillera Hydroelectric Power Corporation. 

 

For solar energy firms in Luzon, the awardees are  99.98MW for Talugtug solar project of Greenergy Solutions Inc, 40.4MW for  PAVI Green Naga solar power facility of PAVI Green Renewable Energy Inc of the Villar group, 280MW for Santa Rosa Nueva Ecija 2 solar project of Solar Philippines Nueva Ecija Corporation and 200MW for Concepcion Solar 2 project and 450MW Tayabas solar project of Solar Philippines Commercial Rooftop Projects Inc. 

 

For wind energy projects, 100.8MW for Kalayaan 2 wind project of CleanTech Global Renewables Inc,  30MW for Calatagan wind project of Solar Philippines Calatagan Corp, 160MW for Balaoi and Caunayan wind project of Bayog Wind Corporation of the Ayala group, 100.8MW for Kalayaan 2 wind project of CleanTech Global Renewables In and 70MW for Caparispisan II wind project of Amihan Renewable Energy Corp
