DTI Establishes SSFS For 286 MSMES

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the region of Davao (DTI-11) has built over 286 shared service facilities (SSF) and aided over 1,370 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) throughout the region since 2013.

Maria Belenda Ambi, DTI-11 director, mentioned that the SSF projects helped MSMEs with their operations and also helped over 4,146 beneficiaries by creating over 1,497 employment opportunities.

“We are optimistic that our beneficiaries will continue to maximize and optimize the benefits of the SSF projects we have provided them with,”  mentioned Ambi.

According to Ambi, Since 2013 DTI-11 has begun to “progressively address” the bottlenecks and gaps in the value chain of priority industry clusters in their area by supplying tools, machinery, equipment, and other needed accessories for manufacturing, production, and processing for the 1,370 MSMEs.

“They can also approach our provincial and field offices, including our Negosyo Centers throughout the region, for any form of assistance, especially technical,”  mentioned Ambi.

With this, there have been numerous success stories of MSMEs such as the Cocolife Multipurpose Cooperative which produces virgin coconut oil in Pantukan, Davao de Oro. This MSME’s first project was established back on June 21, 2013, and officially received an addendum last December 16, 2015. They have also established their name in the province since 2005.

The SSF Project of the DTI is targeted towards enhancing MSME competitiveness by allocating equipment, tools, systems, accessories, types of machinery, knowledge, and skills under a shared system. With these facilities, the beneficiaries can improve the quality of their products and increase the capacity of production.
