PROGRESS REPORT—In the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) new safety seal certification program, over 100 applications for safety seals assessed have been denied due to non-compliance with health protocols. Over 100 applications have been approved and 600 are still pending.

According to Trade Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, the DTI assesses retail, hardware, and repair shops while others cover sectors like tourism and government.

The program provides establishments with stickers to be displayed at entry points to show they comply with health safety protocols.

Gyms and other indoor non-contact sports venues in Metro Manila and its neighboring regions will be allowed to operate in a limited capacity as soon as they have safety seals. Inspections will be conducted by either the city or municipality.

Mr. Lopez said at the Laging Handa briefing on Friday that denied applications may be reversed once the shops have complied with the rules.

Shop inspections are still ongoing, he added.

Health safety protocols include screening systems at shop entrances, handwashing stations, and physical barriers for social distancing.
