In an effort to encourage more Filipinos to launch startups and embrace innovation, the Embassy of Israel in the Philippines partnered up with IdeaSpace-QBO Innovation Hub to highlight the Filipino startup industry. The Networking night featured over 50 startup founders and investors, allowing them to connect and share ideas with one another.
Israel is currently the world’s startup capital with over 6,000 active startups across the country. Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines Ilan Fluss discussed how Israel has been able to develop a strong startup ecosystem that has been empowered by key players in the startup industry. “We are even shifting from a startup nation to building a startup nation to sustain innovation and prepare in addressing future challenges,” explained Fluss. This movement toward a startup nation has been instrumental in Israel’s thrust toward more innovative cities across the globe.
“We would like to share the success story of Israel as a startup nation and create partnerships with the innovation community in the Philippines,” added the ambassador. “We have to build bridges of innovation between our countries to contribute to addressing the development challenges of the Philippines.”
Through the Networking night, the Israeli embassy hopes to encourage collaborations and partnerships between Israeli and Filipino startup companies. The event program also featured a segment where startup founders and businessmen from the two countries could engage with one another and exchange ideas around.
“We need to build a bridge between our two countries so that startups could benefit and gain business,” elaborated IdeaSpace Foundation and QBO Innovation Hub president Butch Meily. Through efforts like Networking night, the local startup industry is able to gain more recognition and allows it to further develop.
