Due to the COVID pandemic, like many other airlines Emirates has had to make drastic moves in order to survive. According to a report on Saturday Tim Clark, the President of Emirates, has already cut a tenth of its workforce which could rise up to 15% or 9,000 employees.
Tim had previously said it may take up to 4 years for the Emirates operations to reach “some degree of normality,” He also said in an interview that the airline was “not as badly off as others” but that the crisis hit just as it was “heading for one of our best years ever.” as the airline had reported a 21% increase in annual profits in March.
Emirates halted operations late March and resumed limited operations 2 weeks later. So far, the airlines plans to have flights available to 58 cities by mid-August as compared to having 157 destinations pre-COVID.
