Emotional Viral Bank Passbook Holder Issues Apology

Gleen Cañete, who recently gained attention on social media for alleging unauthorized withdrawals from his BDO Unibank account, has publicly apologized after the bank confirmed that all transactions were legitimate.

Cañete admitted he acted out of emotion in his now-deleted viral video. “I did this because I realized that I was wrong for getting carried away by my emotions, and that I even shared about it on social media,” he stated in a Facebook post.

Upon discovering that his own family had made the withdrawals, Cañete promptly removed the video to protect his family’s and BDO Unibank’s reputation. “When I found out that it was my family who withdrew the money, I immediately deleted the live video for the sake of my family and of BDO Unibank.”

Cañete chose to stay silent for several days to clear his mind, considering his family was involved in the incident. He originally claimed that P345,000 had been withdrawn from his account and asked for public support, but refrained from sharing full details at the time.

Now, he seeks understanding and forgiveness, emphasizing his intentions to provide for his child’s future. “I hope you would understand, forgive, and trust me again because I’m just a father working hard for my child,” he appealed.

Cañete reaffirmed his trust in BDO Unibank, highlighting his long-term relationship with the bank. “I have faith in BDO Unibank and I’ve actually been its account holder for a long time.”
