Filinvest-ENGIE JV Completes 3MW Solar Rooftop Project for Nexperia in Laguna

The Filinvest Group, in partnership with ENGIE Services Philippines, has successfully completed a 3-megawatt-peak (MWp) solar rooftop installation at Nexperia Philippines’ assembly and testing facility in Cabuyao, Laguna.

Executed through their joint venture, Filinvest-ENGIE Renewable Energy Enterprise Inc. (FREE), the project is part of their commitment to support industrial clients in shifting to renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions.

Juan Eugenio Roxas, FREE president and CEO, emphasized the project’s importance in ensuring energy reliability and shielding operations from fluctuations in grid prices. He added that this milestone aligns with Filinvest’s 70th anniversary and its broader goal of environmental sustainability.

Nexperia’s Laguna plant produces up to one billion semiconductor components annually and depends on a stable power supply. The solar rooftop system is helping the facility cut emissions and manage energy costs more efficiently.

The installation is among FREE’s growing list of renewable energy projects, which also includes a 2.8 MWp solar rooftop at Filinvest’s Festival Supermall in Alabang. In 2023, FREE secured 13.68 MW in solar projects, including the Nexperia installation.

Nexperia aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations by 2035, with a goal to fully transition to renewable energy by then.
