E-wallet platform GCash announced that it has completed wallet adjustments for users affected by unauthorized transactions caused by a recent system error. The company assured users that accounts are secure and urged them to stay alert against scams.
In a statement, GCash emphasized its commitment to secure financial services and ongoing improvements to prevent future incidents. “Customer account security will always be our top priority,” the company said, adding that they are working closely with law enforcement to investigate the issue.
The glitch, which GCash attributed to “errors in a system reconciliation process,” led to reports from users who claimed they lost thousands of pesos. While GCash has resolved the issue for affected accounts, many of these cases involved highly active accounts, according to Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) Executive Director Alexander Ramos.
Ramos urged users to report such incidents directly to e-wallet providers and authorities rather than posting complaints on social media, which may delay resolution. The CICC also reminded the public to stay vigilant against phishing and text scams, particularly during the holiday season.
