Google Philippines launched a new campaign on Thursday which provides authoritative information on vaccines in an effort to increase confidence and awareness around getting inoculated.
On the Search Homepage of Google, users will be able to click on “Get the Facts” to instantly redirect them to a curated information panel complete with the latest vaccination updates, trusted news sources, sites of global and health authorities, and health information, Google explained.
This campaign feature is easily located beneath the search bar on Google’s search page, where there will be a highlighted “Get the Facts” beside a band-aid icon. The necessary information can also be accessed by typing “covid vaccine” on the search bar.
“Vaccination will help end the COVID-19 pandemic. To fight vaccine hesitancy, we have launched the ‘Get The Facts’ campaign to further demonstrate our commitment to protecting our platforms from misinformation and connecting people to trustworthy and authoritative information,” explained Bernadette Nacario, Google Philippines country director.
Approximately 700,000 videos containing dangerous or false information related to COVID-19 have also been removed globally, said Nacario.
Google has also entered into partnerships earlier with the Department of Health and other online platforms for its CheckTheFAQs campaign.
Other prominent media companies and businesses in the country have also teamed up to encourage more Filipinos to get inoculated through the Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat vaccine information campaign.
As of May 25, 4,495,375 doses of vaccines have so far been administered across the country.
