IMG SOURCE: Manila Bulletin

On Monday, the first batch of products of home furnishing giant IKEA arrived in the country. The company said that this was an “important milestone” and that they can’t wait to “make them available to the many Filipinos”.

The upcoming IKEA Pasay Branch is expected to be the Swedish firm’s largest store upon completion. Its opening was originally planned in 2020, but delays in construction pushed it to 2021. There haven’t been any specific date announcements yet.

Aside from product sales, the Pasay Branch will also house call center operations and serve as a warehouse for the company’s e-commerce arm. IKEA’s online store in the country will be opened to the public by the second quarter of 2021 ahead of the physical store’s operations.

Within the Southeast Asian region, IKEA currently only has 9 physical stores.
