Japan is looking to deepen its partnership with the Philippines on renewable energy development and sustainable technologies, according to Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Endo Kazuya.
In a press release issued Monday, Kazuya emphasized Tokyo’s desire to hold more talks with Manila, particularly regarding energy cooperation and the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) initiative.
“Our nations share a strong commitment to clean energy,” Kazuya said. “Japan has been at the forefront of innovation in solar, wind, and hydrogen. Collaborating with the Philippines can accelerate its energy transition and promote sustainability.”
Last month, Kazuya met with Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla to discuss strengthening bilateral efforts in the energy sector.
Both countries are actively pursuing cleaner energy alternatives, and Japan has also offered to host a nuclear energy study tour for Philippine experts and policymakers, underscoring its long-term commitment to supporting regional energy shifts.
