The Science Park of the Philippines Inc. (SPPI) has recently embraced two Japanese companies, Tamiya Corporation and Ohtsuka Poly-tech Philippines, inaugurating their new facilities in Cebu and Batangas, respectively. Tamiya, famed for its premium hobby model kits, launched a P1 billion plant in the Cebu Light Industrial Park (CLIP), which significantly contributes to the global supply of its products. This venture is not only pivotal for Tamiya’s global distribution but also boosts the Philippine economy with an estimated $24 million in annual exports and provides employment for over 1,000 locals.
In tandem, Ohtsuka Poly-tech Philippines, an affiliate of Ohtsuka Poly-Tech Co. LTD, opened its doors at the Light Industry and Science Park (LISP) IV in Malvar, Batangas. This move reinforces its position as a key player in the automotive industry, offering a broad spectrum of solutions and producing vital rubber and plastic components for various sectors.
The SPPI has a longstanding history of fostering industrial growth and innovation in the Philippines, housing major international corporations in its eco-friendly industrial parks. These recent expansions by Japanese locators underscore the Philippines’ growing appeal as a strategic investment destination for global manufacturing giants, bolstering the country’s industrial and economic landscape.
