JoyRide Becomes Latest Player in Car-hailing Industry, Competing Against Grab

On Monday, courier and motorcycle-hailing company JoyRide announced that it will become the latest player in the car-hailing industry after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the company’s transport network company (TNC) accreditation.

JoyRide is now set to compete against Grab, which is currently the dominant player in car transport services. “We are grateful that JoyRide Car is now one of the accredited four-wheel [TNCs] in the Philippines. We view this as a good development as commuters will now have another viable choice for safe, comfortable, and affordable car rides to their destination,” explained JoyRide senior vice president for corporate affairs Noli Eala.

The company launched its motorcycle-hailing services in 2019, which it later expanded to include tricycle transport services, deliveries, and even COVID-19 testing. Since then, around 20,000 drivers and partners — with a wide array of vehicles from motorcycles, cars, vans, and trucks — have joined its network.

JoyRide currently operates in the Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Baguio City, and Metro Cebu. “We are very excited to have JoyRide Car as one of the newest services available in our superapp. As always, we remain committed to providing value-for-money quality service to the public through the use of a powerful and scalable technology platform,” added Eala.

Following the recent move, the company has likewise begun accepting applications of drivers and operators for its latest JoyRide Car feature.
