SONAK Retail Group has announced a leadership transition: Kabir Buxani has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds his father, Anil Buxani, who will now shift into the role of Chairman.
Kabir brings with him a deep familiarity with the company’s operations, having held roles across technology, finance, and project management. Over recent years, he has spearheaded SONAK’s push into e-commerce, integrated automation into daily processes, and collaborated on strategic partnerships with brands like ABC-MART and Bullpadel.
In his new role, Kabir aims to expand the company’s retail footprint, introduce contemporary brands to the Philippine market, and continue evolving SONAK’s blend of sports, lifestyle, and fashion offerings. He also emphasizes that people and culture will remain central to his leadership vision — growth, he says, must be meaningful and inclusive.
Anil Buxani expressed pride and confidence in the transition: “Kabir has shown deep insight into our business and strong dedication to our values. He is well-poised to guide the company into its next chapter.” The Buxani family has now ushered in its third generation into leadership, continuing SONAK’s legacy across over 60 years.
