LRT, MRT Lines Undergo Holy Week Maintenance to Boost Safety and Efficiency

Metro Manila’s key railway systems underwent scheduled maintenance during Holy Week to enhance operational safety and efficiency for daily commuters.

On Saturday, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) conducted rail grinding—an essential maintenance process that smooths out and repairs rail track deformities caused by constant use. This ensures smoother train rides and helps prevent service interruptions.

Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) carried out annual preventive maintenance on both the LRT-1 and LRT-2 lines. LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera personally inspected LRT-1 stations from EDSA to Baclaran and visited the line leading to the Pasay Depot, monitoring Light Rail Manila Corporation’s ongoing efforts.

Along the LRT-2 line, routine inspections, facility cleanups, and equipment checks were conducted to ensure system reliability.

Officials stressed that these annual maintenance efforts are crucial for the long-term safety and dependable operation of Metro Manila’s public rail transit system.
