Starting October 1, 2024, customers of Manila Water Company Inc. will see an increase in their water bills, while Maynilad Water Services Inc. customers will experience a decrease, following the approval of the foreign currency differential adjustment (FCDA) for the fourth quarter by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).
Manila Water will apply an upward FCDA adjustment of 2.03%, translating to an additional P0.86 per cubic meter. This means that residential customers consuming 10 cubic meters or less will see a monthly increase of P3.65, those consuming 20 cubic meters will face an additional P8.10, and customers using 30 cubic meters will pay an extra P16.54.
Conversely, Maynilad customers will benefit from a 0.62% decrease in their rates, which equates to a P0.29 reduction per cubic meter. For those consuming 10 cubic meters or less, this translates to a P0.83 decrease, with reductions of P3.14 and P6.43 for customers using 20 and 30 cubic meters, respectively.
Manila Water serves the East Zone of Metro Manila and parts of Rizal province, while Maynilad covers the West Zone, including parts of Metro Manila and Cavite.
