Manuel Villar Named Sole Filipino in Forbes Asia’s ‘Heroes of Philanthropy’ 2024

Billionaire real estate tycoon Manuel “Manny” Villar Jr. has been recognized as the only Filipino included in Forbes Asia’s 2024 Heroes of Philanthropy list. Villar, the chair of Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc., was honored for his significant contributions to education and community development this year.

Significant Contributions

In October, Villar donated ₱615 million to construct a church and school near Provence, a flagship Vista Land development in Bulacan. This included a 1.2-hectare land donation valued at ₱613 million to the Diocese of Malolos and an additional ₱2 million in cash.

Forbes highlighted Villar’s history of philanthropy, noting that he has previously donated:

  • Over 2 hectares of land to St. Jude College in Manila.
  • 5 hectares to the University of the Philippines, Diliman in Quezon City.

The total value of these land donations is estimated at ₱8 billion.

Recognized Across Asia

Villar joins 14 other business leaders across Asia who were selected by Forbes for their notable charitable efforts, which are funded directly from their personal fortunes.

Legacy of Giving

Beyond his achievements as a business magnate and former senator, Villar has consistently used his wealth to advance education, religious causes, and community development in the Philippines.
