Massive P2.9 Billion Investment in Lapu-Lapu City Infrastructure Announced by President Marcos

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared a substantial investment of P2.9 billion in infrastructure projects in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, for the year 2024. This funding initiative was announced during the capsule laying ceremony of the Mactan Expo Center in Mactan Newtown.

The allocated budget will focus on critical infrastructure developments including road widening projects and the construction of new facilities such as the Cebu-Mactan 4th Bridge and a coastal road. These projects aim to alleviate traffic congestion on major routes like the Mactan Circumferential Road and Mactan Airport Road, thereby enhancing connectivity and accessibility within the city.

In his speech, President Marcos emphasized the government’s commitment to investing in the region’s infrastructure to ensure continued economic growth and success. He highlighted that the ongoing and upcoming projects are part of a broader effort to improve road connectivity and solve traffic issues, which are crucial for supporting the local economy and community.

The Mactan Expo Center, a project valued at 1.5 billion pesos and located near the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, is set to become a landmark for Cebu and a hub for the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. This facility is expected to create numerous employment and business opportunities, leveraging the area’s potential to attract domestic and international events.

This infrastructure enhancement in Lapu-Lapu City is part of the government’s larger plan to foster regional development and promote the Philippines as a prime destination for global business and cultural exchanges.
