Maynilad Water Services Inc. is spending ₱101 million to install new pipes this year.

Maynilad is set to lay 13 kilometers of new pipes that will connect 18,000 residents in Valenzuela, Rosario, and Bacoor, Cavite province to its water network allowing them to receive potable water straight from their taps.

“Laying new pipelines across our West Zone concession enables us to give more people access to potable surface water,” said Randolph Estrellado, Maynilad COO.

“Hence, we continue to deploy workers in the field, ensuring that they follow strict health and safety protocols so that crucial pipe-laying activities will not stop,” he added.

Last year, Maynilad installed 17 kilometers of new pipelines worth ₱185 million in portions of Valenzuela, Muntinlupa, and Bacoor in Cavite despite quarantine restrictions.

The company has installed over 3,100 kilometers of new water pipelines across its concession area since its re-privatization in 2007.

“Combined, this pipe length translates to the distance between Manila and Tokyo, Japan,” said Maynilad.

The company is also looking to replace 173 kilometers of leaky old pipes this year, in various portions of its concession area.

Pipe replacements for this year would allow them to recover around 33 million liters per day (MLD) of water, enough to supply the needs of around 33,000 households.

Maynilad’s water distribution system is the longest ISO-certified facility of its kind in the Philippines, stretching from North Caloocan to Cavite province, and delivers over 2,600 million liters of potable water every day to over 9.8 million customers across the West Zone.
