McDonald’s PH Records 1,000% Increase in Sales with BTS Meal Launch

On Wednesday, McDonald’s Philippines announced that it hit its highest daily sales level since the outbreak of the global pandemic after the launch of the BTS Meal just a week ago.

The prominent fast-food chain sold close to 3.5 million pieces of its McNuggets on June 18, the same day the collaboration meal with the popular Kpop group was made available in the country. This equated to a 1,000% growth compared to the company’s daily average, said McDonald’s Philippines Managing Director Margot Torres.

Just five days after it was launched, McDonald’s has already sold almost 1 million BTS Meals. What sets the product apart is the dipping sauces sweet chili and cajun, which are widely available in South Korea. Also included in the meal are 10 pieces of chicken McNuggets, medium fries, and medium drinks.

“I just wanna point out that the lift in sales was also seen in our other chicken products like Chicken McDo, and other product categories like burgers and desserts,” explained Torres.

“We want to make sure that it continues, because we had record-breaking daily store sales since the pandemic, even for that weekend, so we’d like to continue that it will [aid] in the recovery coming from the pandemic,” she added.

“Generally, because of the pandemic, we have a strong takeout sales — delivery, drive-through, takeout combined,” Torres said as 70% of their sales come from drive-through and delivery.
