Megaworld Appoints New President: Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso Takes the Helm

Megaworld Corp., a prominent property developer, has announced Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso as its new president, succeeding billionaire Andrew Tan. This appointment is effective immediately.

A Proven Leader

Before her new role, Gutierrez-Alfonso was Megaworld’s chief operating officer, director, and chairman of its Board Executive Committee and Management Executive Committee. She has been with the company since 1990 and serves as a director for affiliate firms such as Global-Estate Resorts Inc. and MREIT Inc. Gutierrez-Alfonso graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Far Eastern University in 1984.

Transition and Leadership

Andrew Tan, who previously held the president position, will continue as chairman of Megaworld’s Board of Directors. Gutierrez-Alfonso’s directorial appointment took effect on June 3, 2024, following the retirement of Kingson Sian, who also stepped down as a member of the Executive Committee.

Company Performance

Megaworld has reported robust financial performance, with a 10% increase in net income for the first quarter, reaching P5.0 billion. Attributable net income rose by 8% to P4.4 billion, and consolidated revenues grew by 16% to nearly P19 billion.

Expanding Horizons

With 31 master-planned integrated urban townships, integrated lifestyle communities, and lifestyle estates nationwide, Megaworld plans to expand to 35 townships by the end of the year to mark its 35th anniversary.
