Melanie Perkins, the 32-year old half-Filipino, CEO and co-founder of graphic design company Canva is now the 3rd richest woman in Australia and the youngest Australian billionaire. As of June 2020 Canva has 30 million monthly users worldwide, due in part to a 50% rise in its design sharing since the Covid-19 pandemic started, as reported by Forbes, leading Canva’s valuation to have nearly doubled. Canva’s valuation spiked from $3.2 billion USD in October 2019 to $6 billion USD in 2020 after securing $60 million USD in new funding from Blackbird and Sequoia China, among other investors.
Canva has headquarters in Sydney, Manila, and Beijing and has more than a thousand employees operating worldwide. The app allows users to easily navigate graphic design, helping its users create logos, business cards and presentations among other things.
Melanie is currently valued at a net worth of $2.5 billion USD according to The Australian.
