Mercedes-Benz PH Launches First Plug-In Hybrids: E-Class and GLC Now Available

Mercedes-Benz Philippines has officially introduced its first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), expanding its electrification lineup to meet growing local demand for sustainable mobility.

According to general manager Maricar Parco, the new models include the E-Class E350e Plug-In Hybrid sedan and the GLC 350e Plug-In Hybrid SUV. The E-Class is priced at ₱5.49 million, while the GLC starts at ₱4.89 million.

“These models offer the best of both worlds,” said Parco, explaining that the PHEVs start on electric power and seamlessly switch to gasoline once the battery is depleted. She described them as an ideal transition for buyers shifting from traditional internal combustion engines (ICE) to fully electric vehicles.

This rollout complements the brand’s EQ full-electric lineup introduced two years ago. Parco emphasized that Mercedes-Benz’s global strategy aims to have at least 50% of its production fully electric by 2039, with local targets adjusting based on market readiness.

Currently, electric vehicles make up 12% of the brand’s local sales mix, with goals to grow this to 15% this year and beyond, aided by the addition of plug-in hybrid options.
