Metro Pacific Aims for 10 Million Liters of Fresh Milk by 2027

Metro Pacific Dairy Farms (MPDF), a joint venture between Metro Pacific Agro Ventures Inc. (MPAV) and Israel’s LR Group Ltd., is setting its sights on producing 10 million liters of fresh milk annually by 2027.

MPAV president and CEO Jovy Hernandez said the company is rapidly scaling operations, having started with just 500,000 liters. In 2024, it surpassed the one-million-liter mark, and for this year alone, it expects to double that figure to two million liters.

Established in 2022 as a ₱2-billion venture, MPDF is building an integrated dairy facility as part of Metro Pacific Investment Corp.’s (MPIC) push into agribusiness.

The dairy unit currently has a herd of 1,000 cows, with about 200 actively producing milk. Hernandez shared that 220 additional milking cows are set to arrive from Australia by May to boost production. Efforts are also underway to convert more cows from the non-milking herd into active producers.

With the Philippines still importing 99% of its dairy needs, MPIC’s venture is a step toward improving local milk self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on imports.
