A global IT outage linked to Microsoft caused significant disruptions for Cebu Pacific and AirAsia Philippines on Friday afternoon.
Cebu Pacific alerted passengers to system downtime caused by issues related to technology provider CrowdStrike, resulting in a global Microsoft outage. The airline is handling affected processes manually, which may lead to delays. Cebu Pacific assured passengers that they are working to mitigate disruptions and will provide regular updates.
AirAsia Philippines confirmed the outage’s impact through its partner, Navitaire, causing unexpected machine reboots and operational disruptions, particularly with check-in and the AirAsia MOVE app. Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines’ communications head, stated that Microsoft is investigating the issue with external assistance.
Philippine Airlines reported no impact from the outage, according to spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.
