Microsoft’s Acquisition of Nuance Around $16 Billion Still in Talks

IMG SOURCE: VentureBeat

Microsoft Corp. is engaged in advanced discussions to acquire Nuance Communications Inc., which is an artificial intelligence and speech company, at around $16 billion.

An agreement could be announced as soon as Monday, a source said. With the current price being discussed, Nuance could be valued at approximately $56 per share.

Bloomberg News was the first to report the discussions between the two companies. It said that as the talks are ongoing, there’s still a chance for it to fall apart.

Nuance’s speech-recognition technology also aided in the launch of Apple’s Siri. The firm is based in Burlington, Massachusetts and primarily develops software for sectors ranging from healthcare to automotive industries.

If everything pushes through, the $16 billion acquisition could become Microsoft’s second-biggest deal after it purchased LinkedIn in 2016 at $26.2 billion.
