Miss Universe Philippines announced Coins.ph as their official crypto and blockchain partner, making Coins.ph as the first-ever local crypto partner of the pageant organization as they enter the world of cryptocurrency.
The announcement was made through a Facebook post with the caption “Coins Movement has reached the Universe.”
In an interview with BitPinas, Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph said
“I think [Miss Universe] is a powerful platform to deliver financial awareness. I would like to work with them long-term. And you know, Miss Philippines historically has been very successful in Miss Universe and we look to support the winner to go global.”
Through a tweet, Coins.ph sends their royal welcome to Miss Universe into the crypto space.
The announcement got positive feedback from the netizens.
MUPH became the first global beauty pageant to join the hype of NFT when they entered the blockchain space in September 2021.
The prestigious organization had also collaborated with RedFOX Labs, a Southeast Asian blockchain developer, to send off the Miss Universe Philippines NFT collection which can be purchased with RFOX tokens on Uniswap and Metamask.
After the launch of the NFT collection, MUPH had also released their own collection back in October. It includes photos and videos of iconic moments of the pageant and it highlights the lovely ladies from the past pageants, including two crowned beauty queens from the Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray.
The former Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, advocates for NFT adaptation not only in the Philippines but in other countries as well. She even received hate but the beauty queen seems to be unbothered as she still continues to be vocal about it.
