The Oreo cookie brand of snack producer Mondelez Philippines Inc. is expected to be revamped as the company maintains it as “the world’s favorite cookie and the best tasting sweet sandwich in the world.” Mondelez Philippines marketing director Toby Gatchalian noted that the company had already introduced a more affordable Oreo packaging to the market, targeted for sari-sari stores, priced at ₱7.60.

With Oreo cookie’s 110th anniversary coming up, Mondelez is also planning to release new seasonal flavors in the Philippines. Gatchalian further affirmed that the relevance of the product to Filipino families has been strengthened as it continues to provide more “playful moments of connection and accessibility.”

“On its 110th birthday, Oreo offers new flavors and affordability to support more playful moments with the family, on top of the twist, lick, and dunk tradition of enjoying the cookie. We will introduce new flavors and multipack offerings for greater availability, making it even more accessible to the market,” said Gatchalian.

The ₱7.60 Oreo retail pack has significantly enabled consumers more accessibility to the product, leading Mondelez Philippines to capture a bigger market in the country. While a wide selection of flavors and varieties are already available for Oreo cookies, Gatchalian added that the new flavors are expected to be introduced in the coming quarters.

As more Filipinos continue to excite their interest in the kitchen, especially since the outbreak of the global pandemic, Mondelez hopes to capitalize on this enthusiasm. Gatchalian elaborated that the company will also be dropping simple recipes that homemakers can make with the Oreo cookie, including alternatives to traditional Filipino bites like bibingka and rice cake.

Mondelez Philippines also produces other brands such as the powdered beverage Tang, block cheese Eden, the cheese spread Cheez Whiz, the biscuit Tiger which also comes in different varieties, as well as beloved chocolates Cadbury Dairy Milk and Toblerone. The Philippines’ snack industry has been found to have a revenue of ₱1 billion a year.
