A survey from Arcane Research shows that the number of Norwegian women investing in crypto has doubled from 3% to 6% in only one year.

The survey found that the rate of female-owned crypto assets increased from 3% in 2021 to 6% this month. The survey reached out to about 1000 Norwegians between the age of 15 years and older and was conducted in partnership with NORSTAT, a leading data collector for market research services in North Europe.

NORSTAT and Arcane’s research found that ⅔ of all female respondents first purchased crypto in 2021. Furthermore, the research also found that the gender gap in Norwegian crypto ownership has widened. The survey notes that approximately 10% of the Norwegian population (~ 420,000 people) currently own some form of cryptocurrency. The number marks an almost 100% increase since the last survey of 2018.
However, Norway is not the only country to experience increased female involvement in crypto as the Australian-based cryptocurrency exchange, Independent Reserve reported a 10% increase in late 2021.

Additionally, Turkey boasts an almost equal number of male and female crypto investors as women make up about 47% of the entire crypto-investor population.

While there has been an upward trend of women investors in crypto, the digital assets market still experiences significant gaps, particularly in the NFT space female creators account for just 5% of total market sales.

Crypto ownership has seen a positive growth overall as Germany reports that half their population is interested in investing in crypto, with women accounting for 53% of that total.

The managing director of the German crypto fund F5 Crypto, Florian Döhnert-Breyer, stated that the country aims to be a role model for the wider adoption of crypto investing.

“As the largest country in the EU with a notoriously risk-averse view of financial assets, Germany has a special role to play,” said Döhnert-Breyer

“The high number of women interested in crypto is particularly encouraging as this target group is, on average, less active in the financial market (e.g., stock market).”
