MPIC Core Profit Jumped 15% in 2025

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) posted a double-digit rise in its 2025 earnings, driven by the strong performance of its power, water, and healthcare subsidiaries.

The Manuel Pangilinan-led infrastructure conglomerate reported that its consolidated core net income climbed 15 percent to P27.1 billion, up from P23.6 billion in 2024. The company attributed this growth to robust operational improvements across its diverse portfolio.

The power segment, led by Meralco, remained the group’s primary engine, contributing P22.1 billion or 69 percent of the net operating income. Meralco’s revenues rose 6 percent, supported by higher pass-through charges, increased retail sales, and improved generation from the reserve market.

MPIC’s water and toll road divisions also showed growth. Maynilad Water Services saw revenues climb 9 percent to P36.6 billion, following a rate adjustment in early 2025. Meanwhile, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) recorded a 17-percent surge in toll revenues to P36.9 billion, fueled by higher traffic volumes and rate adjustments across its network.

In the healthcare sector, the Metro Pacific Hospitals network benefited from rising patient volumes, contributing to the overall 13-percent increase in contribution from operations, which reached P32.1 billion.

Despite the strong core results, reported net income grew by a more modest 5 percent, affected by a one-time gain recorded in the previous year.

MPIC Chair Manuel V. Pangilinan noted that the results highlight the steady demand for essential services despite global economic uncertainties. “The global environment remains uncertain, with ongoing geopolitical conflict in the Middle East and other external pressures affecting energy markets,” Pangilinan said. “In times like this, our approach is to stay disciplined—manage our balance sheet carefully, focus on operational efficiency, and continue investing where the country needs infrastructure the most.”
