MPT DriveHub, a travel service application, was recently launched by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) which aims to deliver swift roadside assistance to toll users as well as mobility solutions for better travel experiences. Being the largest builder and operator of expressway networks, DriveHub will primarily cater to RFID (radio-frequency identification) motorists.

Users will be able to utilize the new app on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (Cavitex), and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (Calax) starting March 1. MPTC is already planning to make the app usable along the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEx) down the line.

MPT DriveHub — available on both Android and iOS devices — will be able to assist users in three ways: RFID transactions, trip planning, and roadside assistance. The app enables motorists to easily check the amount and even top up their RFID accounts, avoiding issues such as having an insufficient balance and limiting the need to stop at a loading station when they go out to travel.

Moreover, planning will also be made easier and more efficient since the app allows motorists to calculate toll fees ahead of a particular trip as well as pointing out the nearest pitstops for dining, gas-ups, and bathroom breaks. MPT DriveHub likewise features the expressway hotline number at the ready should users run into a situation where they need to request roadside assistance.

“With the growing demand for mobility solutions amid an accelerated digital transformation in the Philippines, we found it necessary to strengthen our pursuit for innovation. MPT DriveHub is part of our business diversification initiatives that will help realize our goal of providing the ultimate mobility experience to our motorists,” explained MPTC president and chief executive officer Rodrigo Franco.

The launch of the app comes as the company expects a 10% increase in traffic volume for the year, which could lead to similar or even higher traffic compared to pre-pandemic levels. “This is just the beginning for MPT DriveHub. We are actively developing the app to introduce more services in the future such as e-wallets, motorists’ marketplace, and electric vehicle charging locator map to equip our motorists with more solutions that will further enhance and delight their journeys,” added Mark Richmund De Leon, MPT Mobility vice president for Business Development.
