MANILA – Metro Pacific Health Tech Corporation (mWell), the digital healthcare arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), has announced its acquisition of KonsultaMD, Ayala Group’s telehealth provider.
The deal, finalized through share purchase agreements, strengthens mWell’s position as the largest digital healthcare ecosystem in the Philippines.
KonsultaMD, the flagship healthcare platform of Globe’s 917Ventures, boasts 2.7 million users and a vast network of doctors specializing in mobile-based healthcare solutions.
mWell said the acquisition will complement its existing services and accelerate the expansion of MPIC’s health business, including Metro Pacific Health.
For now, KonsultaMD will retain its brand and operate under MPIC/mWell management, ensuring continued access to healthcare services while enhancing digital health delivery.
mWell chairman Manuel Pangilinan highlighted the impact of the acquisition, stating, “Progress for any country depends on a healthy citizenry. This agreement is a giant step forward toward real, immediate, and reliable care for our countrymen.”
Meanwhile, Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the shared goal of delivering accessible and inclusive healthcare solutions to Filipinos.
With the acquisition, mWell is set to further revolutionize digital healthcare access in the Philippines, making telemedicine more seamless and widely available.
