NAIA Terminal 1 Smoke Incident Linked to Power Bank — NNIC Confirms

The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) confirmed that a smoke incident at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Monday was caused by a power bank that likely fell onto Baggage Carousel 3.

The incident occurred around 4:55 p.m., prompting immediate action from airport emergency teams. Passengers were safely escorted away while the area was secured and ventilated.

Authorities later identified the source of the smoke as a power bank that sparked slightly, producing smoke but no fire. NNIC assured the public that the baggage carousel was tested and remained fully functional.

Cleanup was promptly conducted, and normal operations resumed without delays.

“We thank our emergency teams and partner agencies for their swift response. Passenger safety remains our top priority,” NNIC said in a statement.
