The Infrastructure Committee of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is evaluating over ₱15 trillion worth of projects set to be proposed to President Marcos Jr. for implementation in the medium term.

In the Makati Business Club F2F with Cabinet Secretaries, NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan mentioned that the NEDA Infrastructure Committee will have a meeting to complete the final list of projects to be proposed to the NEDA Board chaired by the President next month.

“That list is quite a big number of projects. Indicatively, we are talking about 3,700 projects worth P15 trillion in the medium term,”  mentioned Secretary Balisacan.

According to him, these proposed projects would be part of the Public Investment Program, which comprises the priority projects of the government.

Of the 3,700, over 98 are public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the pipeline estimated to be over ₱3.044 trillion.

Over 45 of the PPP projects in the pipeline are on transport, while 14 are for roads, 11 are for property development, eight for water and sanitation, sex for health, five for information and communications technology, three for tourism, three for solid waste management, and three for energy.

Secretary Balisacan mentioned that the list comprises projects that have been readied in the previous administrations and those returned to proponents.

“Hopefully, the Cabinet, the President will approve that. We have identified what are likely PPP, but we are open to accommodating any of those as candidates for PPP,” he added.

In the list approved by the President, the government is planning on creating a final list of flagship projects.

“This is what we will really focus on. It has to be very consistent, relevant to the PDP (Philippine Development Plan). Those are the ones that will address constraints to growth and employment generation as identified in the PDP,” said Secretary Balisacan.
