Netflix PH to Raise Subscription Fees Starting June Due to 12% VAT

Netflix will increase its subscription rates in the Philippines beginning June 1, 2025, in response to the newly implemented 12% value-added tax (VAT) on digital services provided by foreign companies.

Subscribers received an advisory detailing the updated monthly rates:

  • Mobile: ₱169

  • Basic: ₱279

  • Standard: ₱449 (+₱169 per extra member)

  • Premium: ₱619 (+₱169 per extra member, up to two)

The price hike follows the signing of Republic Act 12023 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which imposes VAT on digital services such as streaming, advertising, and digital content. The move aims to level the tax field between local and foreign digital providers.

Netflix’s rates previously ranged from ₱149 to ₱549 depending on the plan, with member add-ons priced at ₱149.

Netflix joins other platforms like Steam, which recently adjusted its pricing due to the same tax directive.
