NFA Committed to Transparency in Rice Stock Investigation

The National Food Authority (NFA) has expressed its full commitment to the investigation led by the Ombudsman into the suspected irregularities surrounding the sale of buffer rice stocks. Asec. Arnel de Mesa of the Department of Agriculture confirmed the NFA’s cooperation during a public briefing, emphasizing that all necessary documents and interviews would be facilitated to ensure transparency.

Despite rumors of an NFA official allegedly instructing staff to withhold information, Administrator Larry Lacson has assured that the authority will provide complete access to documents and cooperate with the Ombudsman’s office. This statement comes amidst the suspension of over 100 NFA officials and employees linked to the dubious sale of the nation’s emergency rice reserves.

The unfolding investigation underscores the NFA’s commitment to rectify any misconduct and maintain the integrity of the country’s food security measures.
