The Philippine graphic novel “Trese” was earlier adapted into an animated series by Netflix which was released in June of 2021. Now, it is about to debut its own collection of NFTs featuring the characters and is expected to be auctioned later this month. Kajo Baldisimo, the cartoonist and co-creator of Trese, is currently working with NFT artist Luis Buenaventura to make the move a reality.

Dubbed “Trese x Crpytopop,” the collection is set to run on the prominent and largest NFT marketplace OpenSea from January 25 to 28. Buyers will be able to purchase the pieces using the cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH). There will be three motion paintings included in the first set of the collection with accompanying music created by guitarist and designer Marco Palinar.

The piece of Alexandra Trese, the main protagonist of the graphic novel and animated show, will be sold as a single-edition auction starting at 2.666 ETH. On the other hand, pieces for “Kambal” and “Tikbalang” will each have 13 editions going for 0.666 ETH. The entire Trese x Cryptopop series will have 13 NFT collectibles in total.

“I’m so excited to share my first foray into the world of NFTs and digital collectibles. It was great to work with Luis to create these pieces that speak to ‘Trese’ fans all over the world,” explained Baldisimo. “We can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve come up with.”

“I’ve always been a fan of the work of Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo, and it’s been amazing to see the growing popularity of the ‘Trese’ series last year,” furthered Buenaventura. “Like the comics that inspired it, this NFT collection is our way of sharing Filipino mythology with the rest of the world.”
