Over the past week, NFT project Doodles hosted an NFT conference in New York City. Alongside the conference, it also announced a couple of major announcements. First, it revealed that notable producer Pharell Williams has joined as the project’s Chief Brand Officer. Moreover, Doodles is also looking to conduct its first capital raise to be led by venture capital firm Seven Seven Six.

As the Chief Brand Officer, Williams will tackle the project’s approach when it comes to music, artwork, consumer products, animation, and events. “I’m a big fan of the brand,” explained the producer. “We’re going to build from the core community outward and bring Doodles to new heights, new levels.” Earlier in May, Williams entered the Web3 industry with his Gallery of Digital Assets (GODA) aimed at providing traditional artists with a safe space to transition into digital art.

Aside from his new role, Williams will also be the executive producer of “Doodles Records: Volume 1.” Columbia Records will collaborate with Doodles on the album, featuring music inspired by the NFT project. According to a Doodles spokesperson, this will involve “major recording artists” with artwork from Doodles artist Scott “Burnt Toast” Martin. The album will only be sold through NFTs, but it is set to become available on various streaming platforms. Additionally, Doodles plans to include NFT collectibles with the upcoming album.

As for the funding round, Seven Seven Six founder Alexis Ohanian expressed his enthusiasm to work with Doodles during the conference. Ohanian aims to “take all the work they’ve done so far and bring it to another level, scale it even further,” he elaborated in a pre-recorded video message. Katelin Holloway, Seven Seven Six co-founder, joins Williams as the latest addition to the Doodles board.

The creators of the project also unveiled their plans for Doodles 2. This new collection will feature millions of avatars with a wider range of unique traits and wearable items. However, the creators are yet to announce which blockchain they intend to release their new NFTs. The original Doodles NFT collection was released on Ethereum with 10,000 tokens.
