Nissan Accelerates Toward an Electric Future with “The Arc” Plan

Nissan, under CEO Makoto Uchida’s leadership, has declared a dynamic shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) with its strategic plan, “The Arc.” The Japanese automaker aims to significantly expand its EV lineup, enhance battery technology, and reduce production costs, setting a course for increased sales and sustainability by 2030. This initiative reflects Nissan’s response to the auto industry’s evolving landscape, where continuous change has become the standard.

The company plans to launch an impressive array of 30 new models in the next three years, including 16 EVs. By the end of the decade, Nissan intends for EVs to comprise 60% of its global sales, with the total number of vehicles sold expected to increase by one million. To achieve these goals, Nissan is focusing on innovation in manufacturing and partnerships, incorporating robotics, AI, and collaborative efforts with companies like Mitsubishi Motors, Dongfeng Nissan, Renault, and potentially Honda.

Nissan’s journey, which began with the release of the Leaf EV in 2010, now embarks on a more aggressive path to compete in the global EV market and address the challenges posed by chip shortages and other pandemic-induced disruptions.
