NLEX Connector’s Caloocan-España Segment Now Open with Toll-Free Access for a Limited Time

The NLEX Connector, a cutting-edge expressway designed to link Caloocan and Manila, commenced operations on March 29, opening a five-kilometer stretch from Caloocan to España.

President J. Luigi Bautista of the NLEX Corporation announced that the newly opened segment will be toll-free for a limited time, allowing motorists to experience the convenience of the new route. 

The newly launched P23-billion NLEX Connector, operated by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) subsidiary NLEX Corp., aims to significantly decrease travel time between Caloocan and Manila to only five minutes, as opposed to the previous 30-minute journey, thereby improving travel efficiency for commuters.

Trucks are allowed a speed limit of 60 kph, while cars, SUVs, buses, and motorcycles with a displacement of 400 ccs or more have an 80 kph speed limit. 

With its opening, the NLEX Connector is expected to ease traffic congestion along major roads such as España Boulevard, Abad Santos Avenue, Rizal Avenue, and Lacson Avenue and provide access to essential areas, including the University Belt.

The new expressway was inaugurated by President Marcos on March 27, emphasizing the government’s dedication to improving transportation infrastructure for the public.

“This road project will form an integral part of Luzon’s spine expressway network, which in turn is a component of the Philippine high standard highway network. Once completed, this connector shall provide another alternate route that will reduce travel time for our motorists,” Marcos said. 

The NLEX Corporation will announce the commencement of toll charges for the new expressway. Meanwhile, motorists can enjoy the benefits of this new route and its convenience for their daily commute.
