NLEX Eyes Legal Action to Recover Marilao Bridge Repair Costs from Truck Drivers, Owners

MANILA — NLEX Corporation is seeking to recover the multimillion-peso repair costs for the damaged Marilao Interchange Bridge from the drivers and owners of two trucks involved in a recent collision.

Speaking on Super Radyo dzBB, NLEX Corp. Assistant VP for Traffic Operations Robin Ignacio confirmed that the company initially covered the cost but plans to reclaim the amount legally.

“We’re looking to recover the expenses through the trucks involved in the crash,” Ignacio said, referring to the legal complaints filed against the drivers and truck owners for reckless imprudence resulting in property damage.

Following the collision on Wednesday, two northbound lanes on the bridge were shut down. NLEX estimates that the bridge repair will take up to three weeks.

Despite implementing a counterflow system, travel times surged by as much as two hours due to the resulting traffic congestion.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes while repairs are underway. Meanwhile, NLEX is still evaluating the Department of Transportation’s request to waive toll fees in affected areas.
