The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region 5 reported that over PHP 637 million in assistance has been distributed to residents affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in the Bicol Region. Claudio Yucot, head of OCD Region 5, clarified that this figure excludes aid provided by Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, and Malaysia, whose donations have already reached affected communities.
Through a partnership with the Philippine Air Force, neighboring ASEAN countries assisted in transporting relief supplies to storm-hit areas. Relief efforts continue in remote communities across nine municipalities in Districts 3 and 5 of Camarines Sur, the hardest-hit areas in Bicol. Assistance has included essentials such as bottled water, cooking fuel, family food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and rice from the OCD.
More than two million families were impacted by Tropical Storm Kristine and Typhoon Leon, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
