P38 and P36 per Kilo Rice Coming to Kadiwa Stalls in January 2025 – DA

Building on the success of the Rice-for-All program offering rice at P40 per kilo, the Department of Agriculture (DA) announced plans to introduce even cheaper rice varieties at Kadiwa ng Pangulo stalls starting January 2025.

Affordable Rice Varieties

DA Assistant Secretary Genevieve Guevarra revealed the upcoming offerings during the Saturday News Forum:

  • Nutri Rice: A type of brown rice priced at P38 per kilo.
  • Sulit Rice: A “super broken” variety priced at P36 per kilo.

These rice varieties will serve as the DA’s New Year offering, providing cost-effective options to Filipino consumers.

Focus on Nutrition and Quality

The DA is conducting nutritional tests to compare Nutri Rice with regular white rice. So far, the results have been positive, boosting confidence in the product’s marketability.

“Hindi namin ikakahiya na ibenta ito,” Guevarra stated, emphasizing the rice’s quality and value.

A Step Towards Rice Affordability

The introduction of Nutri Rice and Sulit Rice reflects the DA’s ongoing efforts to make rice more affordable while maintaining quality. These varieties are part of the government’s broader initiative to address rising food costs and support Filipino households.
