In Parañaque City, five passenger buses were recently converted into mobile clinics as part of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) efforts to boost vaccination for approximately 6,000 transportation workers.
The inoculation program was launched on Saturday at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX). It targeted public utility vehicle drivers and conductors among the list of workers involved in transportation.
Conversion of the buses was supported by the Mega Manila Consortium Corp., the primary operator of PITX. Meanwhile, additional vaccines supplies will be provided by the Parañaque City government to keep the program going.
“The vaccination program for transport workers will initially be done in Metro Manila and in nearby cities. It will be later implemented in other regions to cover remote areas,” explained the DOTr.
On Monday, terminal fees at the public transport terminal were also waived for buses and jeepneys.
