MANILA – The Philippine gaming industry posted a 25% growth in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in 2024, reaching ₱410 billion, despite the government’s ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) reported Tuesday.
✅ Brick-and-mortar casinos contributed ₱201 billion to the total GGR.
✅ The e-bingo sector surged by 165%, generating ₱154.41 billion in revenue.
✅ Electronic games saw strong growth, thanks to a reduction in licensing fees from 50%-55% to 30% as of January 2025.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco attributed the sector’s performance to policy reforms, including fee reductions that encouraged industry expansion.
“As offshore gaming exits, PAGCOR recognizes that the future of Philippine gaming will continue to become more technology-driven,” Tengco said, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to regulating e-gaming while combating illegal operators.
Despite the POGO ban ordered by President Bongbong Marcos Jr., the industry remains resilient, signaling a shift towards technology-driven gaming operations.
