The Philippines has secured a ₱4.69 billion (approximately $85 million) loan from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to support agrarian reform communities in SOCCSKSARGEN and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The loan will fund the Value Chain Innovation for Sustainable Transformation in Agrarian Reform Communities (VISTA) project, aimed at reducing rural poverty, improving livelihoods, and enhancing resilience in vulnerable upland areas.
The project, with a total cost of ₱6.23 billion, will benefit 86 Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) through sustainable farming, better post-harvest facilities, and improved farm-to-market roads. It also focuses on promoting innovations in coffee and cacao production while preserving cultural and natural ecosystems.
