The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) has officially launched the Trabaho Para sa Bayan (TPB) Plan 2025–2034, a decade-long blueprint aimed at transforming the Philippine labor market and accelerating job creation across key industries.
The masterplan focuses on boosting market access, promoting investments, enhancing business ease, and fostering innovation and technology adoption. It also emphasizes upskilling the workforce, supporting micro-entrepreneurs, and integrating informal workers into the formal economy.
DEPDev Secretary Arsenio Balisacan highlighted the need for adaptive labor policies in light of automation, digitalization, climate change, and demographic shifts. He said the plan ensures a unified, inclusive strategy to help Filipinos access quality, sustainable jobs.
Among the priorities are expanding lifelong learning, improving skills training programs, enhancing OFW reintegration, and increasing access for marginalized workers.
As of February 2025, 1.94 million Filipinos were unemployed—up from the same period last year, while 4.86 million were underemployed, according to PSA data.
