PhilHealth Removes 45-Day Benefit Limit for Expanded Coverage

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has officially lifted the 45-day benefit limit, allowing unrestricted access to its medical coverage.

PhilHealth CEO Edwin Mercado called the previous 45-day limit an outdated policy, emphasizing the need for extended coverage for various medical conditions.

🗨 “We cannot always predict our medical needs. Many services require more than 45 days of coverage,” Mercado stated.

Key Policy Changes:

✅ No more 45-day cap on hospitalization coverage
✅ Extended hemodialysis sessions from 90 to 156 per year
✅ Monitoring system for patient admissions and readmissions
✅ Health facility compliance assessment via HCPPAS
