Philippine Airlines Appoints Richard Nuttall as New President, Announces Executive Changes

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is ushering in a new chapter with the appointment of British aviation executive Richard Nuttall as its incoming president, effective May 29, 2025.

Nuttall, who brings extensive leadership experience from global carriers including SriLankan Airlines and the SkyTeam Alliance, will report directly to PAL chairman and CEO Lucio Tan, as well as PAL Holdings president Lucio “Hun Hun” Tan III.

“I am honored to join Philippine Airlines at such a pivotal time,” Nuttall said. “I look forward to building on the airline’s achievements and steering its growth into new frontiers.”

Nuttall replaces Stanley Ng, who will transition to the role of vice president at PAL Holdings and join PAL’s board of directors, where he will help guide strategic initiatives.

Lucio Tan welcomed Nuttall’s appointment, saying, “His global expertise is a strong asset to PAL. I’m confident he will lead the company toward sustainable growth.”

Ng also expressed support for Nuttall, noting his own excitement for the next phase of his career within the PAL Group.

Additionally, PAL announced the appointment of Carlos Luis Fernandez as the airline’s new executive vice president and chief operating officer, also effective May 29.
